New Displays at Library

All three floors of the library have display cases that are filled with interesting and educational material.

First Floor

Martin Luther King display

Martin Luther King Jr. is the subject of display case #1. Learn more about his contributions and plan to attend some of the many activities ISU is offering for the 2008 Human Rights Celebrations. Display case #2, near the current display area has a display on The Friendship of Books.

Second Floor

The second floor features displays on returning to school, and making it your most successful semester yet. Display case #5 shows the differences between Scholarly Journals and Magazines, which is so important for college-level research. Display case #4 is on Writing Better with help from the ISU Writing Center. Finally, display case #3 covers College Learning Strategies–ways to improve your study, time management, test-taking skills, and more. Find copies of the handouts mentioned here.

Interlibrary Loan Suspended During Holiday

Book orders through Interlibrary Loan will be suspended from Dec. 14, 2007 until Jan. 7 2008. This is to avoid loss in the mail during the busy holiday rush. Most libraries will not loan material over the holidays.The Oboler library will be closed from Dec. 22 2007 through Jan. 1 2008. There will be no Interlibrary Loan Services during that time. Requests placed during this period will be retained and processed in the order received and may take longer than usual depending on volume received and staffing levels.

New Displays at Library

All three floors of the library have display cases that are filled with interesting material. This month all displays relate to the holidays and have multi-cultural themes.

First Floor

Currently the first floor has “Old Sir Christmas” in display case #1 in the sitting area near the Circulation desk and aquarium. This display contains pictures, costumed Santa dolls, and text related to Kris Kringle, Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, Santa Claus—all of his various names, and more. It includes the history of Santa and different country’s interpretations. (more…)
