New Displays at the Library

Idaho Cowboys, Rachel Carson: Celebrating Women’s History Month, Women Taking the Lead to Save Our Planet, Recycling in Pocatello and the New Curbside Program, How Can I Find Dissertations, Women and History, and Health & Nutrition@ Your Library are the new or continuing displays up in the library now.

First Floor:

cowboyDisplay case 1: Idaho Cowboys. Two of Idaho’s most famous cowboys are the subject of this display. Diamondfield Jack was Idaho’s most famous gunfighter, and also a cowboy and outlaw. Henry Harris, Black Buckaroo, was one of Idaho’s most famous black cowboys. Learn more about his interesting life here.

CarsonRachel Carson and Women’s History Month is the topic of display case 2. The theme this year is ”Women Taking the Lead to Save Our Planet.” The library has a lot of information on Rachel Carson, and the case contains some of her books, pictures, and other information. It also includes information on the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge in ME.

Second Floor:

Display case 3-Women Taking the Lead to Save Our Planet is the topic of Women’s History Month and this display. It includes some interesting books on the topic: The New Complete Guide to Environmental Careers, Speaking of Earth: Environmental Speeches That Moved the World, Women Pioneers for the Environment and more.

recycleRecycling in Pocatello and the New Curbside Recycling Program is the topic of display case 4. Find information and see examples of the many items that you can recycle in the City’s Recycling Program. Did you know that toilet paper and paper towel cardboard rollers can be recycled? Also junk mail, the first draft of your term paper, your TV dinner and the cardboard box it came in–check out the display for more ideas. It’s not too late to sign up. If you’re a renter, you can do it too–go in with a few friends to lower the cost!

How Can I Find Dissertations? is the subject of display case 5. It covers finding dissertations through the ProQuest database Dissertations and Theses. Complete instructions are provided in a step by step format, and information on how to Interlibrary Loan the ones we don’t have is also given. A couple of samples of ISU dissertations are also provided.

Third Floor:

w histWomen and History is the topic of display case 6. it highlights some books related to the topic including Women and Political Participation and Women in Prehistory.

healthHealth Science display caseHealth & Nutrition @ Your Library This display covers health information for consumers through Medline Plus, DVD’s like Supersize Me and Food Matters, and books like Family Guide to Fighting Fat and A Healthier You. The Food Pyramid and some sample foods are shown in the cabinet.
