An Example of Academic Dishonesty

A student writing. Cheating is a dishonest act that intentionally misleads or betrays the rules of a given group or society. This can be damaging and disruptive. The following example of cheating involved several students at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business:

Thirty-four students (almost 10 % of the graduating class) were caught cheating on an open-book, take-home final exam. Their professor became suspicious when he noticed a remarkable likeness in their answers both on the take-home exam and the course work during the semester. As a result nine of those students were expelled, fifteen were suspended and received failing grades and the remaining nine will fail the class.

With this alarming number of students caught cheating in school, our economic standing can and will be challenged as these types of students are integrated into the business world.
