Using the Internet to do research does not inherently lead to plagiarism. The Internet is often a quick and relatively painless method for finding research materials. Plagiarism only occurs when a student or researcher misuses materials found online. Plagiarism through misuse of sources can happen whether a student found the information online, in a book, or in a periodical.
