Scope and Content
The Stites Collection was donated to Idaho State University by his wife, Catherine, when she died June 8, 2002. See the ISU Foundation for additional information.
The collection contains 6 five-inch wide boxes of his official and personal correspondence, hand-written notes, newspaper clippings, photographs, slides and negatives. It also contains 1 two-inch wide box of hand-written notes and a flat box of memorabilia of his career and photo albums and a scrapbook.
The bulk of the collection focuses on his writing and photography career, his 1967 trip to Alaska, and contains mostly photographs, but also includes some very personal correspondence to his wife.
