Who Cares about Academic Dishonesty?
University Instructors: The instructors at this university care about academic honesty and plagiarism because while a student is attending Idaho State University, those instructors are here to teach important skills about critical thinking, writing, and using sources, as well as the course content. If a student cheats, plagiarizes, or is academically dishonest, they miss out on this opportunity to learn.

will care for several reasons. First, when a person writes a paper, designs a chart, paints a picture, etc., they want to
receive credit for their hard work. Also, if the victim of academic dishonesty is a student, they may be wrongfully accused
of helping the person who stole their work. Third, in the professional world, the creator of a work may receive royalties
(fees that allow others to use their work). If another person takes that work and uses it, they may be literally stealing from
the original creator.
