By cheating one's way through school, one loses the opportunity to learn the skills and knowledge that they will need to be a success at their chosen career.

Further, if a student is caught engaging in acts of academic dishonesty, their instructors and classmates may no longer trust that individual, and the student may have a hard time pursuing advanced degrees or transferring to another college.

Potential Employers: When a potential employer sees that a person has received a degree, they expect that person to have a certain level of knowledge and ability. Imagine a new accountant or a geologist who cheated their way through to graduation; they are not going to have the skills they need to be successful at their professions and will most likely be dismissed before long.
