1866Opens his first store in Virginia City, Montana
1867Opens second store in Salmon, Idaho
1868Marries Lena Darnutzer in Salmon City, Idaho
1872Elected as Lemhi County Commissioner and County Superintendent of Schools
1874Elected to Territorial House of Representatives
1879Elected to Territorial Council (Senate)
1880Appointed delegate to Republican National Convention
1889Appointed Idaho Territorial Governor by President Harrison
1890 Elected first Governor of the State of Idaho, October 1st
1891Elected as Idaho's first United States Senator, serving for 4 years, March 3rd
1894Re-elected to United States Senate, serving until 1900
1904George Shoup died, December 21st
