Quoting and Citing from Other Sources
|
|
Similar rules about quoting and citing apply to non-book sources. Whenever you use an image, a chart, a table, a
piece of music, etc., you need to cite where you found the quoted or paraphrased material.
Whenever you quote from an Internet or electronic source—like a message board or a Web page—make sure to put
the exact URL (also called a Web address) in your bibliography. The date you accessed the information
also needs to be there. The date will help instructors and readers find the online materials you used given that online
content changes so rapidly. |
Many style guides include their rules for citing these kinds of sources, often with examples. Remember to consult your instructor to find out which
style he or she wants you to use.
